How can I access newly installed Samsung 2TB 990 Pro from my Satechi hub?

Hello! I have a Mac Mini M1 (2020) with 16 GB Memory currently operating Sequoia 15.7.4. I just installed in my Satechi hub a Samsung 2TB 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 Internal SSD. I have not been able to access the new Samsung 2TB 990 Pro SSD. What steps can I take to be able to access the SSD?

Unable to access?

Does this mean you don't see it in Finder or on the Desktop?

Does Disk Utility see the new SSD?

Have you formatted the new drive?

Open Disk Utility and see if you can format the Samsung SSD in the Satechi Hub.

If Disk Utility doesn't see the Samsung 2TB 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSD in the Satechi Hub?

1) review the Satechi Hub spec's to make sure that it supports a 4.0x 4 M2 SSD.

2) try plugging the Satechi Hub into a different port on the Mac mini.

3) try reseating the Samsung SSD in the Satechi Hub.

4) test the Samsung SSD in a different enclosure.

5) test a different M2 SSD in the Satechi Hub.

I can confirm that particular SSD – Samsung 2TB 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 SSD – does work with Mac under Sequoia. I have the same drive in a Satechi hub myself sitting under a 2018 Intel Mac mini. It also works with an M2 MacBook Air running tahoe.

The current revision of Sequoia is 15.7.5.

You might update your OS.

Did you follow the guidance from our friend, @den.thed, to erase and reformat the drive with Disk Utility?

Yes, I am unable to see it in Finder or on the Desktop. I do not have another enclosure to try the SSD in and I also do not have another M2 SSD to try. I've walked through all the other steps suggested. I'm fairly certain the SSD I purchased should work with my Satechi hub as I worked with a colleague to determine what I needed prior to making a purchase.

So far I've determined it's very possible I've not been able to get the SSD properly seated. I don't hear it click in to place. I've attempted numerous tries of inserting the SSD at an angle as suggested. My son also tried to push it in and still, the pins are noticeable. I checked my order and have verified the SSD I ordered does NOT have heatsink (I read where those can be thicker and won't install in a Satechi enclosure). Not sure what else to try to get it to click in to place. I'm afraid at this point of doing damage to either the SSD or the enclosure or both.
