As for timespan of granting macOS updates and upgrades, Apple has a tendency and reputation of providing them for 6 or 7 years for a device, then stops providing them. Silicon Macs were released on 2020 and beyond. So, as an example, for a 2020 device, macOS updates and upgrades with discontinue with Tahoe or the next macOS version.

I'm not sure we understand. Do you mean you have applied a update and it will not finish installing, or are you asking how long the M1 series Macbook Air will receive future updates from Apple?
