Cannot resize Applications grid in macOS full-screen view

Hello,

Since macOS Tahoe, it seems impossible to display the Applications grid (Launchpad-style) in a truly resizable full-screen view. It only opens in a fixed-size interface, with no option to adjust it like a standard window.

Is this an intentional design choice by Apple, or is there a setting or workaround to enable a fully resizable, true full-screen display?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I decided to replace LaunchPad with an app called AppGrid (in the app store, or available outside the app store with more features, google AppGrid). It's free to use with core functionality and you can pay for "Pro" features (all very well explained on their homepage).

I'm not associated with the developer, but can vouch that AppGrid provides the old LaunchPad experience and then some. It can even import your LaunchPad settings on first launch. So if you took time to organize your apps into folders, this is imported automagically. It has a ton of customization options (background color, transparency, full screen vs windowed, categories, number of columns/rows in the grid, etc, etc).

In addition to what has already been said: there are plenty of free and not free alternatives in the App Store if you want to keep the behavior that Launchpad offered in versions prior to Tahoe.

For me, and many others, it does not make a difference. I have for a long time only used Spotlight to launch applications by name, e.g. press Command-Space and start typing two or three letters, like Saf and press enter (to launch Safari), never bothered with Launchpad.

I know that many people do miss Launchpad (probably those that came to iPhone first, and then Mac). For those, options do abound, as I said above.

👍 Great idea for those that have become reliant on the Launchpad.

I personally never use Launchpad or Spotlight on my Mac's. (probably because I had Mac's long before I ever had an iPhone) I still have and open frequently used App's from the Dock, then open infrequently used App's from the Applications Folder.
