It is a common issue for cellular connectivity to drop after a major update like iOS 26. This often happens due to misconfigured carrier settings or temporary software glitches.

Immediate Troubleshooting Steps

  • Toggle Airplane Mode: Swipe down for the Control Center, turn on Airplane Mode for 15 seconds, then turn it off to force the modem to rescan for a signal.
  • Force Restart: Quickly press and release Volume Up, then Volume Down, and hold the Side Buttonuntil the Apple logo appears.
  • Check for Carrier Updates: Connect to Wi-Fi and go to Settings > General > About. If a carrier update is available, a prompt will appear within 15 seconds.

Advanced Software Fixes

  • Reset Network Settings: This is often the most effective fix for post-update issues.
    • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    • Note: This will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords and VPN profiles.
  • Remove VPN Profiles: If you use a VPN, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management and delete any active profiles, as they can interfere with cellular handshakes after an update.

Physical Hardware Checks

  • Reseat your SIM Card: Turn off your phone, remove the SIM tray, and reinsert the card to ensure it's properly aligned.
  • Dual SIM Users: If you use an iPhone 12 with dual SIM capability, try switching your physical SIM to the other side of the tray if applicable, or toggle "Turn On This Line" off and on in Settings > Cellular.

If these steps don't work, contact your carrier to verify your account provisioning or visit an Apple Store to rule out a cellular modem failure that may have been triggered during the update process.
