iPhone does not have a display setting akin to the privacy screen feature found on some Android phones.

Apps can restrict snapshots, and more recently with captureProtected, but far from completely. Particularly given cameras exist. And this requires the specific apps explicitly (try to) block.

If by “privacy screen” you mean the feature that makes your screen unreadable from side angles, the answer is:

You cannot activate it on an iPhone 12 Pro Max because iPhones do not have a built-in Privacy Display feature. Apple has not included such a setting in iOS 26 or any current iPhone model. Reports and videos showing an “iPhone Privacy Screen” toggle are either referring to physical screen protectors or are fake demonstrations.

A jailbroken iPhone could theoretically implement a software-based privacy screen effect, but with significant limitations.

I would never recommend jailbreaking your device just to obtain a so-called “privacy screen” feature. Any software-based privacy display effect is, at best, an imitation and cannot provide the same protection as a physical privacy screen. In return, jailbreaking can expose your device to security risks, reduce system stability, and potentially compromise the privacy and safety of your personal data. The trade-off simply isn’t worth it for a feature that cannot truly deliver the privacy benefits people expect from a real privacy screen.
