MLB game's inning in the dynamic island?

How do I get an MLB game's inning to show up along with the current score in the dynamic island on my iPhone 17? I don't care about the lock screen as I want to know the inning while I'm using my other apps. It was working yesterday. Today, just the score without the inning. Anyone know how to keep the inning there, too?

Hi DirWren,

The MLB app's Dynamic Island support on iPhone 17 should display both the score and the inning, but it sounds like the inning data may have stopped updating. Here are several things to try:

1. Force Close and Reopen the MLB App: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-press the side button), find the MLB app, and swipe it up to close it. Then reopen it and start a live game to see if the inning returns to the Dynamic Island.

2. Check Live Activity Settings: Go to Settings > MLB (or the specific MLB app you're using) > Live Activities. Make sure Live Activities are toggled ON. This is required for the Dynamic Island to show game updates.

3. Enable Background App Refresh: Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and make sure it's ON for the MLB app. Without this, the Dynamic Island may not receive real-time inning updates.

4. Check Dynamic Island Settings: Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Dynamic Island and make sure it's enabled for the MLB app. Some apps require explicit permission to use the Dynamic Island.

5. Update the MLB App: Go to the App Store > Updates and check if there's an update available for the MLB app. The inning display may have been fixed in a recent update.

6. Try the MLB At Bat App: If you're using the MLB.com app, try the MLB At Bat app instead. It has more robust Dynamic Island support and typically shows the inning, score, and outs all together.

7. Check the Widget Configuration: In the MLB app, go to Settings and look for Dynamic Island or Live Activity preferences. Some apps let you customize what data appears in the Dynamic Island.

8. Restart Your iPhone: A simple restart can resolve issues where the Dynamic Island stops updating for specific apps. Hold the side button and either volume button, slide to power off, then turn back on.

9. Check iOS Version: Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any available updates. Dynamic Island functionality improvements are often included in iOS updates.

10. Contact MLB Support: If none of the above work, the issue may be on the MLB app's side. The app was showing the inning yesterday but stopped today, which suggests a bug in the app itself. Contact MLB support through the app or their website.

The fact that it was working yesterday but the inning disappeared today suggests either an app update introduced a bug, or the live activity session needs to be refreshed. Force closing the app and starting a new live activity should resolve it in most cases.

Hope this helps you get that inning back on your Dynamic Island!
