My phone number reported as spam

I have had the same number since 2007 and have been using this phone number connected with an iPhone since 2012. Over a month ago, my phone number stopped working for iMessage or FaceTime. I was told someone reported me as spam and they would reverse it. The problem was fixed in 24 hours. Shortly after, my phone stopped working for iMessage again. I have been to the Apple store 2x, Verizon 2x, called verizon 10+ times, called Apple 20+ times and they are just now (after 30 days) telling me they can't unblock my phone number. I am so confused as I don't even use this number for work. Now I'm expected to just change the phone number I've had my entire life? This is the worst customer service EVER and I am at a loss of what to do.

I went through this also. Contact your cell provider and get a second phone number added to your phone. With this second line you can text again (although you'll need to tell people you have a new number). Then, continue to submit requests to Apple to get your number unblocked. For me, it took me 3 months.

Apple is seriously stepping up and taking spam more seriously. It appears Apple's push to make Messages spam-free is going through some growing pains.
