2 days ago i noticed battery level falling rapidly, went to apple :they said update ; so i went straight from ios 18 to latest, but the problem is still on.

for 1.5hour of facebook 30% lost , this was all on mobile data. remote diagnostics says theres issue with display on the phone How that can lead to battery discharge i dont know, theres no heat but sometimes the phone hangs on multitouch or touch the phone fast repeatedly.

Hi there! It sounds like you're dealing with two separate issues - rapid battery drain and display/touch problems. Here are some things to try:

For Battery Drain:

1. Check Battery Usage by App: Go to Settings > Battery to see which apps are consuming the most power. Facebook seems to be a big drain based on your screenshots - try limiting background activity or using Safari instead.

2. Turn Off Background App Refresh: Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh and disable it for apps you don't need.

3. Reduce Screen Brightness: Lower your brightness or enable Auto-Brightness. The display is one of the biggest battery consumers.

4. Disable Location Services for Unnecessary Apps: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and set apps to "While Using" or "Never".

5. Check Cellular Data Usage: Since you mentioned this happened on mobile data, go to Settings > Cellular and check which apps are using the most data.

6. Enable Low Power Mode: Temporarily enable this to see if it helps stabilize battery life.

For Display/Touch Issues:

1. Clean the Screen: Sometimes dirt or moisture can cause touch issues. Clean the screen with a microfiber cloth.

2. Restart Your iPhone: Hold volume up, volume down, then side button until you see the Apple logo.

3. Check for Display Damage: Since remote diagnostics found a display issue, this could be a hardware problem. Even if there's no visible crack, the digitizer could be damaged.

4. Update iOS: Make sure you're on the latest version - Apple often fixes touch-related bugs in updates.

5. Reset All Settings: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.

Since remote diagnostics already found a display issue, I would strongly recommend visiting an Apple Store or authorized service provider. If your phone is under warranty or AppleCare+, they should be able to replace the display for you.

Hope this helps!

if it was a everyone issue forums would be blowing up separately for each of the apps,

There is no separate forum for each app here and Meta specifically does not provide any such forum for Facebook or WhatsApp for users to discuss those battery draining issues. Although you can find many users here who have experienced the battery draining while using Meta apps simply by using the Search function on the top of the screen.

Facebook/WhatsApp causing battery drain is no secret and there has been a long history of that and also a concern on Android phones. Google even called out Meta for their excessive battery usage and adopted similar options like Apple where you can see the apps that are consuming the battery and also provide notifications so it is a user decision if they want to continue to use the app or complain to the developer for a better app experience.

If you think it is an issue with your phone, then first make an archived backup using a computer to save a copy of your important data, then Factory Reset the device without restoring the apps. The alternative is to delete the battery consuming apps and/or use the web alternatives to access Facebook and compare your results where it is not the app that is causing the battery drain.

It is obviously not related to an iOS issue as you experienced the same problem with iOS 18. For a Hardware problem that can only be resolved by Apple. You do have a subpar battery, but Apple typically does not recommend replacement until it drops below 80%. You will experience less daily usage time overall which means your app usage numbers are going to increase. The phone is expected to achieve 1000 charge cycles under normal conditions before the battery drops below 80% and need replacing. On average that would put you in the range of about 650 charge cycles so far.

From what you posted in your screen shot, 1.5 hours of Facebook usage and 22 minutes of background activity using 29%of your battery with a single cellular bar on a Battery showing 87% Battery Health would not be particularly unusual.

What is your Battery Health percentage at Settings > Battery > Battery Health?

You may be using the same apps as you were using before, but certainly not the same versions of those apps. Given that Facebook was updated 9 times in just the last month, you don't know what changes were made that affect battery performance. There was an update available in 7 hours ago, so you can try that one to see if battery usage is better with that version.

From an app perspective, the 4 you have installed have been some of the most power hungry apps seen. Even when not using the apps, they are reporting background usage for 2 hours and 43 minutes, even though you are only using the apps for a little less than 3 and a half hours and that adds to your battery usage.

You have a 1 bar cellular signal currently, which is also going to use more power to maintain a connection to a distant tower, then when you are seeing a strong cell signal. I don't know of any linkage between a touch issue causing battery drain, but a failing battery where the Health is below 80% may cause other issues including hangs/touch processing.

Home and Lock Screen usage is due to the background processes being performed after the update in order to index the files and also perform object detection algorithms on all your photos in the library. That will continue for about 4 days and then return to normal. You will experience increased battery drain overall and lag in UI performance during this time, but that is specific to the update process and not an explanation to what you had experienced before. Apple even added a Support Article related to the battery drain and system lag experienced shortly after a software update.
