iOS app offloading not saving space, moves to documents

If you back all the way out of Settings, then go back into Settings > General > iPhone Storage, you will see that the storage amount for the app has been updated and the App Size will not be included with your Documents & Data.

Great suggestion from Mac Jim ID. That is the key thing to remember - the storage numbers do not refresh immediately in the app details screen. You have to go all the way out to the main iPhone Storage list to see the updated figure.

Also, if you still see the space not being freed after doing that, try force quitting the Settings app and reopening it. Sometimes the cache needs to be cleared for the numbers to update properly.

Another tip - make sure Offload App is what you are selecting and not Delete App. They look similar but Delete App removes everything including your documents. Offload keeps your data but removes the app binary. You can confirm by checking that the app icon still shows a cloud symbol next to it after offloading, which means the data is preserved.

If the problem persists even after trying these steps, it might be worth reporting to Apple through the Feedback app, as it could be a bug in how storage is calculated.

Obviously the OP is using the Offload App option as that is clearly visible in the screenshots that they posted. If you are attempting to use AI to provide responses it is absolutely necessary to proofread and test before posting. We do expect better here and the quantity of information is irrelevant when there is actually a verifiable solution that you can also check for yourself.

Backing out of Settings and going back into iPhone storage will refresh the storage values where you will see the space saved by Offloading the app.
