Alexa App stopped responding to voice commands after most recent iOS update

Alexa App on iPhone 17e stopped responding to voice commands after iOS 26.4.1 update. Does anyone have a workaround or fix for this? My entire digital home is effected.

iPhone 17e, iOS 26

Hey, sorry to hear you're dealing with this. iOS updates can be pretty finicky sometimes. I've run into similar stuff before and here's what usually helps:

1. Check your microphone permissions. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and make sure Alexa actually has access. Updates sometimes flip those settings off without telling you.

2. Try offloading the app. Settings > General > iPhone Storage > find Alexa > Offload App. This clears the cache but keeps your data. Then just tap it to reinstall.

3. If you're using Siri, there might be a conflict between Siri and Alexa fighting over voice input. Try turning Siri off temporarily and see if Alexa starts responding again.

4. Sign out of the Alexa app and sign back in. Sometimes the account session just gets weird after an update.

5. Make sure the Alexa app itself is updated. Amazon might have pushed a fix already for iOS 26.4.1.

6. Last resort, reset your network settings. Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Just know this clears your saved Wi-Fi passwords too.

Hope one of these does the trick!

I'm curious what AI you're using for most of your responses?

Alexal app is a third-party app.

The app developer may not have updated their software to ensure compatibility with the iOS version your device is currently running.

If you encounter any challenges with third-party applications, the best course of action is to directly contact the app developer for further assistance. Here's a brief guide on how to do it:

  1. Identify the app developer.
  2. Visit their website or app store listing.
  3. Look for their contact information or support channels.
  4. Clearly describe the issue you are facing.
  5. Provide any necessary information they may need.
  6. Follow their instructions and provide feedback.
  7. Be patient and follow up if needed.

By reaching out to the app developer, you increase your chances of receiving accurate and personalized support for the challenges you're experiencing. To contact an App developer --> How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

I've been using the Alexa app on my iPhone 17 Pro Max which is updated to iOS 26.4.1, without any issues at all. You're honestly the first person I've seen post about an issue with Alexa on iPhone with the latest iOS update.

Have you:

  1. Force Restarted your iPhone --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  2. Removed any add-on VPN or other anti-virus software on your phone if you have any (they cause connectivity issues and aren't really useful unless required by a school or employer to access their servers).
  3. Ensured there is no issue with Wifi or Cellular on your iPhone?

They tried to get me to uninstall and re-install the Alexa app which I had already done 3 times. They gave the same list of suggestions that google's AI did: Uninstall/Reinstall, restart phone, turn off hands-free in Alexa app and turn back on, check internet connection, turn off Siri and try again, etc.

I literally tried them all, so I'm guessing there's a compatibility issue between the most recent version of the Alexa app for iPhone and iOS 26.4.1

Tried force restarting, didn't work. I don't have a VPN or anti-virus installed. WiFi has very good signal as I'm literally 8 feet away from my router and speed is 300 mb/s

OK. But I don't know what to suggest as I already mentioned, the Alexa app is working perfectly fine on every device in my home (2 iPhone's on 26.4.1 and 2 iPad's on 26.4.1). Where in the world are you located? I'm in the US.

I know and I thank you for your time. Nobody seems to have the magic bullet yet. I'm setting up an Advanced support call with Amazon to see if we can get to the bottom of this. It's really annoying but not the end of the world. I have an older iPad that can't upgrade to iPadOS 26 and I believe it still works on that, so when I have time I'm going to compare settings. And I'm in Taxachusetts, sorry Massachusetts. :)
