Apple Car Play - Siri

When I say "Siri, plot (or prepare, make, plan) a route to [location/address]" it works some weeks but not others. A couple of weeks ago, it stopped working. Then the following week it started working again. Hands-free options are important when driving. Is there specific wording Apple needs so this works consistently?
When I ask Siri to connect to Car Play / Apple Car Play, it doesn't. Why? My phone is connected to my car's system. This seems like a very basic function that Siri should do. Again, important for hands-free navigation. The whole user experience seems inconsistent. Siri should just connect automatically (I really should not have to ask).

Hey, those CarPlay Siri issues are frustrating, especially when you're driving hands-free. Here are a few things to try.

For the route command, Siri sometimes gets tripped up by phrasing. Try simpler commands like "Navigate to [address]" or "Directions to [place]" instead of "plot a route to." Also check that Location Services are enabled for both Maps and Siri in Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services. If those are restricted, Siri can't route you.

For Siri not connecting to CarPlay, try forgetting your car and reconnecting. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, select your car, tap "Forget This Car," then set it up again. If you're using a USB cable, try a different one - some cables are charge-only and won't work for CarPlay data.

Since you're on iOS 26, also check if you're running a beta version. Those can sometimes cause CarPlay instability. A regular software update might fix things too.
