iOS 26.4: CarPlay incoming calls display as banner

After updating my iPhone to iOS 26.4, incoming calls in wireless CarPlay no longer displayed correctly.

On iOS 26.3, the call screen appeared full-screen.

On iOS 26.4, the call only appears as a bar next to the clock and requires tapping.

Car: Lexus RX 2024, wireless CarPlay.

This is a regression after the iOS update.

iPhone 16 Pro Max, iOS 26

Best advice is to open a support ticket with both Apple and your vehicle manufacturer. Feel free to cite this post along with other anecdotal research to support this being a global not isolated defect. Here is another post that cites this same issue: No incoming call accept/reject buttons showing for Carplay on my EX30 : r/ex30

https://www.reddit.com/r/ex30/comments/1v16i5r/no_incoming_call_acceptreject_buttons_showing_for/ unfortunately this forum is not a way to bring it to the attention of Apple as this is just an echo chamber for folks like us to be aware of the universal issue but no meaningful path to resolution since this is an issue that can only be resolved by Apple Dev team (albeit there may be a way to jailbreak your iPhone as a workaround but I wouldn’t recommend such a solution).

This is a known global defect that Apple and all car manufacturers will need to work out to resolve. This was due to a failed user acceptance testing procedure to validate the new updates embedded in the latest iOS. For now, the onus is likely on the Apple Dev team but this is an issue that will likely not be addressed unless there are enough complaints due to the cost to implement a break fix solution.
