iPod Classic: Renamed music files, lost tags on transfer

Long story short, I dug out an iPod classic (160gb) that I haven't used for many years in order to transfer the music therein to my laptop. However it was totally dead and even after charging it I couldn't find the home-screen so did a reset which worked, but on linking the iPOD to my laptop I found a load of folders named in sequence from F00 - F49 such as seen here:-

On opening any of the folders, I was then confronted with the following, where all the file names have changed :-

When I imported these files into a program called Mp3tag, there were many (but not all) tags in other columns such as seen here:-

So, If you've scrolled through all the above and reached this point, can anybody tell me please if there's a quick and easy way to restore the tags to their rightful places?

Bizarrely, the files seem to be fine on the device itself as seen here, so is there a different way of transferring these files whilst retaining all the pertinent information?:-

Please be aware that as a pensioner, I am not all that clued up on computers, so please treat me like the novice I am.

Thanks in advance,

Izzy
