The usual setup is with an iPhone.

The iPhone for commercial MFI Hearing Aids communicates with the hearing devices over Bluetooth for two things. It does both Control functions (Volume louder/softer and change to a different mode), and optionally forwards a sound stream (such as call audio or web streaming) if desired. Making that Bluetooth connection with commercial hearing devices requires that the hearing devices be Bluetooth-paired with the supervising device, typically an iPhone.

Only ONE such supervising device is accepted by most hearing devices, unless in certain cases, smart software is being used on the supervising device. This usually means that if paired with your iPhone for Control, you can not immediately accept "any old Bluetooth sound stream" from a nearby device

This article describes how to un-pair one device to re-pair with another device. In my opinion, a pain in the neck.

On some hearing aids, an external Streaming device such as the GN TV Streamer 2 can be accessed for sounds, while the IPhone software remains in control. I use that setup with my TV set and my GN Resound hearing aids and it works very nicely. It provides TV sound directly into my hearing aids.

You could use one with your Mac as well, provided support for the TV streamer 2 is provided in that software. GN is the maker of Jabber and Resound (and Beltone) Hearing Aids and the TV streamer 2.

Jabra is pushing its current model TV Streamer, the TV streamer PLUS:

Jabra says it works with the older TV streamer -2 as well:

also available USED, such as on eBay, at deep discount. it is also sold rebranded under names of many other makers.

close to actual size.

this graphic from GN Resound Smart-3D software helps me understand what is connected to what:

Note that the iPhone remains connected, while the hearing Aids make a smart alternate sounds-only connection DIRECTLY to the TV Streamer (Labeled TV/Micro-Mult)

as expected, the Apple Watch is a peripheral of the iPhone, and does not talkdirectly to the hearing Aids.
