Future AirPods for severe and profound hearing loss
To: accessibility@apple.com
Dear Apple Accessibility Team,
I am writing to respectfully request that Apple consider developing a future AirPods product specifically designed for individuals with severe and profound hearing loss.
Apple has already made impressive progress in hearing health through AirPods Pro features such as audiogram integration, Live Listen, and personalized audio accommodations. These innovations are valuable, but users with severe or profound hearing impairment still require more powerful solutions than current AirPods can provide.
Many of us hope for an Apple-designed device that combines:
- Medical-grade amplification for severe to profound hearing loss
- Advanced audiogram-based frequency compensation
- Enhanced speech clarity in noisy environments
- Seamless integration with iPhone accessibility features
- Live Listen and adaptive environmental awareness
- Comfortable, modern AirPods-style design
- Reduced stigma compared to traditional hearing aids
- Full-day wearability and Apple ecosystem convenience
For millions of hearing-impaired individuals, such a product would not simply be another audio accessory—it could significantly improve communication, independence, and daily quality of life.
Apple has consistently demonstrated leadership in accessibility innovation, and expanding AirPods into a truly powerful hearing solution for more severe hearing loss could redefine the future of assistive hearing technology.
Thank you for your time, innovation, and commitment to accessibility for all users.
Sincerely,
A user advocating for advanced hearing accessibility
