FPS drops and heating on MacBook M1 during gaming
Hi everyone,
I’ve been trying some casual gaming on my MacBook (M1, 16GB RAM), and I’ve noticed that while games start off running smoothly, after a while the performance drops and the device gets quite warm.
I understand Macs aren’t primarily built for gaming, but I wasn’t expecting such noticeable FPS drops after 20–30 minutes. I’m not running anything heavy in the background, so I’m wondering if this is just thermal throttling or if there are settings I can tweak to improve performance.
I've noticed this even with lighter strategy and mobile-style games. For example, I recently looked into Stick War Legacy Mod APK after reading about some of its additional gameplay features on ***Since it's not a graphically demanding game, it made me wonder whether the FPS drops I'm seeing are more related to macOS thermal management than the games themselves.
Has anyone else experienced this on Apple Silicon Macs while gaming? Have you found any settings, cooling methods, or performance tweaks that help reduce thermal throttling and keep FPS more stable over longer gaming sessions? Any tips would be appreciated.
