Apple TV Continuity Camera mic intermittently fails

appletv - Intermittent continuity camera microphone issue

Continuity camera is great, when it works. Intermittently an error about microphone not working will appear in the top right of the apple tv when I initiate a call. This is infuriating as the video works but the other party cannot hear me - by this point I have my phone mounted on top of the tv, I have to give up and facetime from the phone.

What can I do to help resolve this issue.
