Stop publishing the Apple link, there is a question from someone who is 69, my Mum is 78. They do not have a credit card or a driving licence.
The question is valid, the link clearly states that a passport or a debit card cannot be used. How do my Mum verify her age as part of the iOS update?

For now, skip the age verification. Some access can be restricted, but other parts will work.

Here is the available information from Apple:

If you're asked to confirm that you’re an adult – Apple Support (UK)

The other link in this thread is for a related but slightly different purpose.

Here is detailed (and customer-written AFAICT) documentation for the paths through this age verification process, including an Apple email address:

The official route is to call Apple Support. (They may well provide the contact info from the earlier link, too.)

Contact Apple Support - Apple Support

As for your pushback…. We’re not Apple Support. That’s not us. And I fundamentally despise this whole age-verification and personal-identification effort. The solution being implemented by Apple is bad, but the alternative solutions (including letting every app and every service everywhere verify everybody individually) seem worse. Much worse. And the whole age-verification thing seems somewhere between ill-considered and entirely suspect. I might only assume politics, lobbying, and sketchiness. Contact your legislative representatives and provide your feedback about the requirements, too.

The link is all we have, you don't get to choose the answer.

It’s not about ‘adult sites’ the age verification arrived with the latest iOS update.
I know, but that is mostly all you will use if you just don't verify, it is not mandatory.

Meant to say that is mostly all you will LOSE if you just don't verify, it is not mandatory.

The other options have now been given twice

CitizenCard, My ID Card, TOTUM ID card, or Young Scot National Entitlement Card.

I am 74 and had credit card for nearly 50 years. That is the zero cost option. Get one.

I understand what you're asking. However, no one here can change Apple's policies. Getting snippy with us, your fellow users, won't help.

The question is valid, the link clearly states that a passport or a debit card cannot be used. How do my Mum verify her age as part of the iOS update?

Consider one of the other options given in that link.

Thank you for the update.

I apologise if I was snippy, the original Apple help link was a circular link that bounced between two pages.

I originally found the ‘ring customer support’ but then couldn’t find it again. Not an issue do they are open of a weekend. I work full time and am too far to nip home at lunch.

This was an unusual miss by Apple, I will need to check if she her passport is in date.

she might need to entirely skip the age verification process. I understand the process but I think that folks who are much older will find this entire process a touch bizarre.

Mum is unlikely to want a credit card at her age, she is tech savvy and unlikely to travel abroad.

The U.K. is somewhat reluctant to step into ID cards, I have credit cards and ID cards so I’ve never had an issue proving who I am.

Messaging my local member of parliament is unlikely to achieve much.

How can I verify my age on iPhone without a credit card or driver's license?
