i use mac mini m4.should i use an ups ? i don't have that much budget for now. should i use an offline ups ?i preference is to protect my device from over and under voltage and if the power cut then just use battery mode for 3-4 minutes to shut the device smoothly. as offline ups dose not have pure sine wave is it be okay to use modified sine wave for 3-4 minutes to shut the device smoothly
Do you live in an area with frequent blackouts, brownouts and spikes? If not then I wouldn't worry about it. Even if you do then the PSU gives a fair amount of protection and would have to be hit pretty hard before for the Mac to get damaged.
However, if you do live in a risky area and you've got experience of your kit being damaged by mains power issues then as long as you use a genuine Apple PSU and not a cheap one bought on the web then it will cope fine with a UPS output not being pure sine wave. If you're going this way then the same advice as the Apple PSU is relevant - buy a decent UPS from a recognized supplier and not cheap internet no-name products. If it's a problem in your area then it shouldn't be hard to find specialist sellers.

Or if there's a spike lose a machine. For that reason I don't have my Mini reboot automatically if there's a power outage because if there's a following spike with the power back on it can cause havoc.
I would suggest Cyberower or APC as a source for a UPS. I have used UPS units from both and have had very good experiences with them.
You will need to spec out a UPS that will power your Mini and display and any other devices connected to it that have their own power.
I will say if you use your computer for business it would be almost mandatory to get one. Nothing worse than working on a project for a customer with a deadline tomorrow or working on your financials and have the power drop out and lose an hour or more of work.

My organization has had a much different experience with APC. I would avoid APC. My organization used to use them, but stopped decades ago. We tried a few APC units more recently and they all failed prematurely.
Instead of APC, I would suggest Vertiv which is the Liebert consumer brand option. My organization has been using both of these for a while now.
