Electrocution has only the one meaning of a fatal amount of current passed through your body. And yet, you're still alive. So, that's a plus.

A strong shock I can believe. Somehow, it seems the watch got grounded and discharged the battery, apparently, all at once.

My guess would be the battery developed a leak, grounded itself on the metal back, and then to you. And a damaged battery would certainly explain why you can't recharge it.

Take it in to Apple Store and have them look it over. I wouldn't be at all surprised the battery was the cause. It also may have killed the watch.
