Hello 👋

Turn your Magic Mouse off (toggle at the bottom) and on ! If this doesn't work, maybe it doesn't have battery anymore so charge it !

If it still doesn't work, force restart your Mac by holding the power button !

Is charged etc as my macbook recognises the mouse if I take the mouse over to laptop.

Sounds like the mouse is now paired with your laptop. You may need to unpair it from the laptop and then pair it again with the iMac.

Set up your Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, or Magic Trackpad with your Mac - Apple Support

Steps to Unpair

  • Click the Apple menu  > System Settings... > Bluetooth
  • Find your Magic Mouse in the list of connected devices.
  • Click the Show Info i⃝ button to the right and click Forget This Device...

When I first power on my M4 Mac Mini Pro, the Apple Mouse II pointer may or may not be stuck near the menu. Usually, it will resume motility on its own, or after a few clicks. I also usually charge the mouse overnight when its charge level drops below 50%.

On macOS Tahoe 26.*, you may see a brief pairing animation with charge level beneath the menu extras panel.

I have never needed to power cycle my Magic Mouse II to regain control of it.
