Wording turns dark on Tehran

We watched the first 3 episodes of Tehran last month with no problems. Today we tried to watch episode 4 and as soon as the message saying to pause the show and go to closed captions to fix subtitles/language issues went off, all wording on the screen went a dark gray/black (it’s white up until this point). This includes the show title, episode #, the subtitle & language box, and the play line that shows the time you’re at in the episode. We tried all the things google and other Apple users suggested (including resetting & delete & reinstall the app), and nothing has worked. We’ve tried other episodes of Tehran with the same result. This is the ONLY Apple show it does this on. Any suggestions?
