2019 Retina 5k 27 inch runs slow EtreCheckPro help

My 2019 Retina 5k 27 inch runs slow, and I was hoping a more computer savvy person would help out someone who mostly yells inappropriate language that scares the dog, followed by, "Just do what I want." I looked through the community and saw directions for using an SSD drive. I will give that a go (I already have a 1TB Samsung SSD connected). Also, I was planning on upping the RAM with 2 16Gb additions. Other comments mentioned EtreCheckPro. After running the diagnostic, I don't know what any of it means, lol. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your help!

To add a bit to John Galt's excellent comments, the other culprit for poor overall performance is a failing Fusion Drive. Since your iMac is using one, doing a deeper dive in the health of both parts (SSD & HDD) of this type of drive is in order. One great tool for this is DriveDx and I suggest that you get yourself a copy as it will come in handy in your "troubleshooting" toolbox.

Comments:

No Time Machine backup - Time Machine backup not found.

  • It should go without saying, if you do not back up your Mac, by definition the prospect of suddenly and irretrievably losing everything it contains does not concern you in the slightest.
  • Google products including "Backup and Sync" will burden any Mac regardless of its configuration. Its processes run all the time, updating themselves and scouring your Mac for personal information it constantly uploads to Google for its own purposes. That may be the reason EtreCheck took an unusually long time to run, as well as its "Heavy I/O usage" comment.
  • If you are required to use Google products buy a Chromebook.
  • macOS Time Machine is relegated to a background task that does will cause any noticeable performance degradation: Back up your files with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support

  • 8 GB RAM is not an abundant amount, but it is very easy to determine if that Mac's performance is being limited by it. Refer to Check if your Mac needs more RAM in Activity Monitor - Apple Support. If its unitless "Memory Pressure" graph is frequently "red" your Mac would benefit from additional memory. If not, it won't. It's that simple. Memory has recently become expensive — prices have approximately doubled in the past six months — so you would not want to buy more unless the cost is justified.

An additional concern is the use of (PACE Anti-Piracy software. Unless it is mandated by your company, bank or other institution I recommend that you uninstall it according to the developers instructions. It is not needed with Macs.

Afterward use the shareware app Find Any File to search for any files with a particular file name.  For PACE software you'd do the following search(es):

1 - Name contains pace

Any files that are found can be Option dragged from the search results window to the Desktop to get a copy of the file.

FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages.

It appears that this is a known BUG that started with the recent session of furniture moving in the forums. The report was obviously visible at one point because others answered OP based on a proper report.

The bug is that it is now populated with text for another thread. The spurious text is the same every time this happens.

Report, report.
