MacBook Pro icons large after disconnecting Studio Display

I cannot figure out how the icons on my screen have become huge and I have gone through the available tutorials to make them regular size again and nothing is working. I have a macbook pro that I run into an apple studio monitor and somehow the last time I unplugged the laptop from the monitor cause my.icons to become way too large, taking up all of the laptop screen. I went through every setting I knew to go to, and none of them really fixed my issue. I have since plugged the laptop back into the monitor and the icons are still entirely too large and a simple right click 'show view options' adjustment isn't fixing it. Zoom does not appear to be turned on. Has anyone encountered this with going back and forth from the studio monitor?

try these two potential fixes:

  1. Change your display resolution and test. If it changes then put resolution back to your default.
  2. If no change then go to system settings, accessibility, display and check the icon text size. Try to make very small and see if it impacts the icon size. Then put back to your default. Sometimes this will fix the issue.
