Third party AntiVirus is not recommended— it typically does nothing but add issues to the macOS and competes directly with Apple’s own built in security:

MacOS is the most secure operating system on the market. Privacy is at the very core of all Apple products and services.

Nothing can self-install, self-duplicate or self-sabotage your system.

I would advise against installing anything that interferes with that.

Don’t be fooled by clever marketing advertisement tactics that rely on fear to sell you a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

It is built into MacOS and you get it for free without paying for any subscription service. You should not add any third party anti-virus program, it will just conflict with the OS and you will be continually plagued with computer trouble until it has been removed.
