Edges of Facebook camera screen got blurry/foggy

I recently got iPhone 17e (only been like 3 weeks) Last night I was facetiming with my friend and in the middle of the talk I opened Camera app and took a picture. Since then the facetime camera screen on my end started to have blurry/foggy areas above/below. I tried rebooting my phone as well as deleting/redownloading facetime app. The problem persists. Camera app works fine so I believe this issue is related to facetime app. Could anybody plz help?! What should i do?! 😭

Re" Edges of Facebook camera screen got blurry/foggy

There are various possible reasons for the blurry/foggy camera screen.

You may have used portrait mode to take the picture, and blur the background.

See: Change FaceTime video settings on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says you can:

"Blur the background with Portrait mode

During a FaceTime call, Portrait mode automatically blurs the background and puts the visual focus on you, the same way Portrait mode does in Camera.

  1. During a call in the FaceTime app  on your iPhone, tap your tile.
  2. Tap Portrait.
  3. To turn Portrait mode off, tap the button again.

You can also turn on Portrait mode in Control Center. Open Control Center, then tap FaceTime Controls."

Else: Try switching cameras ... see if that changes the blurriness.

Above article also says:

"Switch to the rear camera

  1. During a call in the FaceTime app  on your iPhone, tap your tile.
  2. Tap .

To switch back to the front-facing camera, tap  again.

Note: While you’re using the rear camera, you can adjust the image by tapping 1x. The label changes to show the current zoom (from 0.5x to 6x)."

If the blurriness appears with just one camera ... that may need cleaning:

The camera chosen for FaceTime may need cleaning ... a lens cloth can be used to clean it.

If you use a case on your iPhone, check whether or not it is interfering in some way, or if case needs to be cleaned while taken off to clean the iPhone.
