Trouble shooting MacBook Air to External monitor ThinkVision

My MacBook Air can connect to HDMI (HDMI port) external monitor (single) using Targus docking. However it won't connect to ThinkVision monitor (DP) which means it does not recognize external ThinkVision monitor using Targus docking as well.

See if this is Seen in System Information:

If seen, then it is connected, but you may need drivers.

  1. Hold Down: the option key
  2. Click: the Apple menu
  3. Select: System Information (top item)
  4. Expand: Hardware
  5. Click: Graphics/Displays
  6. Click: USB


Installing Drives:

What's the model of your docking station? What's the model of your monitor. See if there are any downloadable drivers. If so,

  1. Create: a Time Machine Backup(TMB) of your Mac.
  2. Restart: the Mac
  3. Install: these drivers
  4. Restart: the Mac

See if it now seen. If no success, then restore your Mac from the TMB you've just created in step 1.
