UIDatePicker number pad broken on iPadOS 26.4.1/26.4.2

UIDatePicker number pad broken on iPadOS 26.4.1 and 26.4.2

Hi everyone,

I've noticed the number pad in a time picker is not rendering correctly on iPadOS 26.4.1 and doesn't appear at all on 26.4.2 (see attached screenshot from Apple's Calendar app). This works fine on iPadOS 26.4.0.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I can replicate iPadOS 26.4.2 Calendar time-setting issue that you describe. I also note that the issue is not present with iPhone running iOS 26.4.2.

Anyone that encounters this issue would be well advised to submit a Bug Report to Apple via its Product Feedback portal. For iPad and iPadOS:

Feedback - iPad - Apple

Every report counts - as until Apple receive a sufficient number or reports, it is perhaps unlikely that resources will be assigned to investigate and resolve the issue. Please don't rely upon others submitting a similar bug report; submitting a Bug Report yourself is the only way to be certain that Apple have been made aware of the problem.

When submitting a report, ensure that you include as much detail as possible within the body of the report - including your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS; don’t rely upon the pick-list, as this rarely includes the full range of device models or most recent versions of iOS/iPadOS.

Workaround

Until resolved by Apple, there is no fix - but there is a workaround. Instead of attempting to edit hours and minutes using the numeric keyboard, highlight the time field - and then simply swipe up or down to adjust the hours and minutes as needed.

Many users may not have noticed the bug that you have identified as - on many cases - they will already be setting the time using the swipe method in preference to the keyboard.

I have reported this to Apple and also quoted the link to the Developer thread. Sorry I didn’t see your post until afterwards so have not quoted you. I also visited an Apple Store yesterday and iPads there had the bug.
I can’t believe this is not more widely reported. I really had to dig to find that initial developer thread and was on the verge of totally wiping my iPad 😀 which would have been a frustrating waste of time.

This issue persists with iPadOS 26.5.

You and others that encounter this problem should continue to submit additional Bug Reports via Apple's feedback portal. You can submit reports as regularly as is necessary to raise the profile of this problem:

This demonstrates that Apple does respond to bug reports. While we have seen few complaints within ASC about the problem, Apple has responded to the bug reports submitted and fixed the issue.

While perhaps the fix has been longer in the making than you might have preferred, consider that Apple must assign resources to investigate the issue amongst competing demands. Until a sufficient number of similar reports have been submitted, Apple might not re-assign its coding team to investigate the issue.

It appears that while the issue impacted all iPad's with affected versions of iPadOS, the issue simply wasn't experienced by the majority. Many simply use the vertical spinner to set times, seemingly content with five-minute granularity.

While happy to confirm that the bug existed (and having myself filed a bug report), I was also amongst the apparent majority that rarely encountered the bug. Either way, bug submission has clearly resulted in an agreeable outcome - with a fix.

No doubt there are plenty more bugs to encounter and report to those upstairs. Just wait for '27 - when we'll no doubt be reporting a fresh batch to Apple. 🙂

Hoorah! 😀 Thanks for posting - I had given up hope. I am a long term and loyal 😀 Mac user. In all those years I never experienced anything like this before. I couldn’t believe when I visited the Apple Store that the iPads there had this bug.

I think it’s irrelevant how many people use this feature (though I have heard that people who use the Medications in the Health App. found it particularly awkward). I just can’t believe that an iPad update was released with this bug and that it took so long to fix it. I don’t feel angry about this, just extremely disappointed in Apple.

I totally understand the importance of reporting and also that it takes time to resolve these issues.

If this was affecting a minority of users, it would also take time to gather enough evidence so they could replicate the issue before they could even think about troubleshooting.

However 😀 it looks like this was affecting all iPads. Maybe this is an over simplification but all they had to do was pick up an iPad to see the problem. If it was only happening in one or two Apps. I could understand better, but it was happening in every App. that had the time picker.

It was also reported on the developers forum in April with clear videos showing the issue - and followed up when subsequent updates did not resolve it.

I assume it needs to reach a certain threshold before it can be looked at but (at the risk of sounding melodramatic 😀) I was just genuinely shocked that the bug was on there in the first place.
