How do I delete a wallpaper in IOS26 (SE3)

How do I delete a wallpaper in ios26? Everything I read online says to long press the lock screen, but whenever I turn on my Iphone (SE3) I have to press the home button unlock the phone, and then can't get back to the lock screen. Thanks in advance for your reply

Press the side button. If the screen is off, it will open to the Lock Screen and if the screen is on, it will turn the screen off, so in that case press it again.

Once the Lock Screen is visible, then you can long press on the screen before you are required to unlock the phone with the Touch Sensor on the Home Button. It is not required that you press the Home Button, you just want to place your finger on the sensor to read your fingerprint.

Can somebody please help me? As I mentioned previously, the solution Mac Jim ID offered worked perfectly the first time, but trying it again to delete other wallpaper has failed.
When I now try to tap the lock screen, it either does nothing until it goes black or says “unlock to edit”.
I don’t know what I am doing wrong, but it is very frustrating. Thanks in advance for your help.

When you open the phone to the lock screen, press HARD on the screen.
