App keeps old data after reinstalling on Apple device

Hi everyone,

Hi I’m having an issue with an app keeping old data even after reinstalling it.

When I reinstall the app, it still remembers previous data/settings instead of starting fresh.

I would like to reinstall it as if it were the first time it had ever been installed.

Is there a way to completely reset an app and remove all previously stored data on Apple devices?

Thanks in advance!

Typically deleting an app (as opposed to just offloading) will delete all data. You do not say which app this is but it is possible that if it is an Apple App that some data may be stored in iCloud, or if it is a third party app the data are stored with the provider in an account you have with them.

You also do not say which hardware is involved.

Offload versus deleting an app

> Use your device to check its storage

- Offload the app, which frees up storage used by the app, but keeps its documents and data.

- Delete the app, which removes the app and its related data.

You’re right, sorry.

The issue occurs on an iPhone running iOS 26, and the app is called “NetTime Smart 2”.

I tried uninstalling it by:

  • long pressing the app and tapping “-”
  • long pressing the app → Delete App
  • uninstalling it from the App Store

The problem is that when I reinstall it, it still remembers the server and username, while I would like a completely clean installation.

I also noticed that:

  • for apps I never installed before, the App Store button says “Get”
  • for apps I already installed in the past, I see the cloud icon with the downward arrow instead

This happens with all apps.

If I go to:

Apple Account → Purchase History → My Apps → Not on iPhone

I can see all previously removed apps there, again with the same cloud download icon next to them.

Hopefully this provides all the necessary information.
