Pages: Permissions issue saving chart to desktop

I created a chart in the new Pages. I sent it out; people emailed me corrections for their data. I corrected it in the chart, but when I tried to save it, I got a flag that I didn't have permissions to save it to my desktop. It said I could make a duplicate. I did but why? I was not collaborating. I was working on my original document.
