Numbers cells remain left-aligned after table style changes

I'm using Apple Numbers 15.2.1 on macOS 26.4.1.

I have a problem with formatting. I updated the table style to change alignment of text. I did this several times in one table on spreadsheet with six tables in total. I ended up back with left alignment of the text.

Now I find that on all tables, which share the same tables, all cells are left-aligned. This includes cells with numbers.

I can't find anyway to get the cells with numbers to revert to being right-aligned as I want them. The cells are formatted as "Number" cells not automatic.

I have tried the following numerous times:

  • Switching formatting from Number to Automatic and back again.
  • Using "Clear All" in the Edit menu then typing a new number in fresh.
  • Changing the overall style of the table.

There is nothing I can do to get the table to format numbers differently from text. If I select a number cell and individually set alignment to the right then update the style hoping that it will understand I want numbers to be aligned to the right then every cell in the table is aligned to the right.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions?
