Apple Books Publishing Onboarding Still Fails New Users
The 2024 issue report may be marked as closed, but the problem still exists.
The current Apple Books Author flow is extremely confusing for new publishers.
🙂 You click “Create iTunes Connect Account”
🙂 You complete the process
🙂 You return expecting to continue
🙂 The UI still shows the same state with no clear indication of success
🙂 You eventually discover you were supposed to click “Sign in to iTunes Connect” again manually
This feels broken from a UX perspective.
After account creation, the app should either:
- automatically sign the user in
- refresh the state correctly
- or clearly communicate the next required step
Right now it creates unnecessary friction during first-time publishing onboarding.
