I have an IPad Pro running iOS 26.4.2. For some reason, I have lost the ability to save an email to Draft using iOS Mail. There is no X in the top left corner for me to select in order to Save Draft or Delete Draft. I can still save to draft if I swipe down and out of email. This is not a problem on my IPhone 16 or an older IPad, just this one. Ideas?

I can get the x in the upper left corner by going to settings , multi tasking and gestures, then selecting full screen apps. But clicking on the X just closes the email and saves it in the draft folder. Would like it, if clicking X opened the “save draft” and “delete draft” buttons like the iphone.
When I click on the "X", the mail compose window closes, but the draft is *not* saved. I am on iPadOS 26.6.1.
