Word online Save As replaces original file

I am using Word online. If I have a Word file called "File A". I want to make changes to "File A" and save it as "File B" (while also keeping the original "File A"). When I go to "save as" it completely replaces "File A" with "File B" but it's still named "File A" even after I went to "save as" and renamed it "File B". Any help would be appreciated.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Is autosave enabled in Word (it is usually the default option)? If so, that probably made the change to the original document before you could use "Save As..." to rename it.

suppose it was me then I would try with another browser too see if it's a general issue

then maybe also another computer, if it was the same everywhere then I would judge it as a bug in microsofts webclient that only they could resolve.
