Access internet on iPhone using Ethernet cable

I want to access the internet on my iPhone using my Ethernet wired connection via an Ethernet-to-USB Lightning adapter, powered by a Lightning cable.

I connect the adapter and turn off cellular data, wi-fi, and bluetooth. In Settings it shows LAN settings under Ethernet with the IP address, etc. All seems well. But Initially whatever I try to do on the internet doesnt connect: Apple store, Software update, whatever. Eventually, maybe even hours later, it will begrudgingly allow me to access the internet. As if it is saying, are you sure you dont want to use cellular data or wifi, really?
