Removing Passcode and Touch ID on iPad Mini 7

Trying to Remove Passcode and Touch ID on Awake on iPad mini 7. It is a personal iPad, simply used for reading and it is annoying to have it require the Touch ID or a passcode every time it sleeps. I removed all the Credit Cards, Apple Pay anything and it still has the turn Passcode off greyed out after restart. This iPad goes nowhere except my nightstand. It only has my standard Apple Email and not much else. It is running iPad OS 26.4.2

If Touch ID is still set up, you won't be able to remove the passcode. Reset Touch ID first, then you should be able to remove the passcode.

If you have a corporate or school email account added to it, it may have a profile that prevents this though.

Do you also have Stolen Device Protection turned off?

Have you tried signing out of Screen Time completely at Settings > Screen Time?
Did you delete all Fingerprints that have been stored for Touch ID?

[edited] Sorry for the slow reply, I see you resolved the issue by removing the Touch ID first.

You can’t directly remove Touch ID instead why don’t you delete all your Touch IDs maybe that will help
