Studio Display buzzing/coil whine when connected via USB-C

Hello!

I recently purchased the 2026 Studio Display, with standard glass.

While connected to a wall outlet, and my MacBook Pro via USB-C, it makes a buzzing sound on the lower left corner. It sounds like a coil whine, not speaker related.

Here's what I've done for troubleshooting:

  1. Disconnected the USB-C: the buzzing stops when not connected to anything via USB-C.
  2. Tested a different USB-C cable: buzzing continued.
  3. Lowered and raised brightness levels: no effect to volume of buzzing.
  4. Changed resolutions for display: no effect to volume of buzzing.
  5. Connected my iPhone to the USB-C cable: no effect to volume of buzzing.
  6. Connected my display's power to a jackery generator. The volume lowered, but buzzing was still present.
  7. Returned Display at the Apple Store, and got a new one. Issue still remains with new display.
  8. I had an electrician come out and test our outlets and ground, and he states it is not a ground buzzing noise. We are in a new built home.

Has anyone else experienced this?? Does this happen with the XDR display? Video here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Hu1pZ1tj6lllkyYrEvNwXWresjIooqGL?usp=share_link

NO, not that has been reported here.

Exactly what USB cables are you using to make these connections?

Have you considered Apple brand cables to reduce potential finger-pointing?

Audiophiles suggest that different devices on different power circuits are sometimes the source for ground loop hum and buzz noises.

Are both computer and display on same (power) circuit?

Have you considered using a Grounded AC power cord on your MacBook Pro to quiet it?

I also have this issue. Firmware update made it significantly better, but it's still there, just in variable capacity. Like it buzzes louder when the laptop is charging. And this is the 2nd unit (first one i got was refurbished and i thought it just wasn't "fixed" by the service center.) Worth noting, that the 1st unit i got did this at my office, not home, so it's not power drop related.

Does anyone NOT experience this issue? Curious to know if i even should try another unit? Because if they're all like this, i'll just get the previous years' model that didn't do this.
