Camera App Crashing after taking a picture in Camera app (iPhone 15 Pro / iOS 26.5)

Hello,

Today I've replaced the battery in my iPhone 15 Pro with a non-genuine one (Battery Health - Unverified), but everything works fine - except for the camera app. The phone can simply turn off after taking a photo or a few photos in default Camera App, and you have to connect it to a charger to turn it back on.

I mention this because I've read that the app relies on the battery, and if you have a non-genuine one this can happen.

However, I've also read that people are experiencing this problem, simply as a software bug, even before and after updating to iOS 26.5.

So my question is does anyone have the same problem? Because I don't know if I should return to the service center and report the problem under warranty or is it a software problem.

Hi, it's me again I was worried that nothing will change, but I am actually surprised because in fact I did get my issue resolved.

Ive just got my phone back from service, and everything seems to be fine.

In the "Parts & Service" section of the General settings menu, the battery status is marked as "Genuine" with a green checkmark. Also, in the "Battery" section, the battery status is now marked as "Normal," not "Unknown" as before. The maximum capacity is 100%, and the number of charge cycles and the battery's first use are also displayed.

They actually did like they've told me - they ordered the battery and programmed it into the phone and I can take pictures again 😂

Sorry, not an Apple problem. It could be the third party battery isn't strong enough to properly run the phone or the repair center could have damaged something internally when they replaced the battery.

Your only hope is return to the place that replaced the battery and see if they can fix it. Apple won't touch it now that is has been tampered with by non-authorized personnel.

Ever since Apple introduced its Self Repair programme, initially for recent models of iPhone, genuine parts have indeed been available for purchase by end-users and third-part repairers in those regions/countries where the programme is available. Specialised tools - along with the necessary software to integrate replaced parts and batteries - are similarly available.

For information:

Self Service Repair - Apple Support

Genuine Parts Distributor - Apple Support

Along with the Self Repair programme, official Apple Repair Manuals for supported devices are also available for download:

After fitting a genuine battery, or other parts, the must be properly integrated using the correct software - as otherwise they will not be reported in device settings as being "genuine parts".

Apple does not sell their batteries to third partys so unfortunately they can't offer you a genuine Apple battery. You are stuck with that battery unless they have another vendor they can purchase third party batteries from.
This is why it is important to have Apple or authorized service center repair your phone.

Oh, good to know. We'll see how it goes this afternoon, because I went there today and was told they would install an authorized battery and program it so the phone could read it normally for paying the difference in price between the cheaper replacement and the authorized one. Supposedly they have access to authorized batteries, but it's a more expensive option, so that's why we tried a cheaper alternative first.

Thanks again for the advice and help
