iPhone 14 Health and Fitness apps performance after updates to iOS 26

Since updating my iPhone 14 to iOS 26.2.4 earlier this week there has been delayed to no updating in Health, noticeably Water intake and Medications logging takes over a day to appear in Health on my phone . Update to 26.5 did not improve. Fitness is slow to update. Force close of apps, Power off/Power on cycles, multiple restore from backups saved to PC have not helped.

OMRON Connect app connected by Bluetooth to BP-7450 blood pressure cuff and SC-150 scales has also been slow to respond or freezes since the updates.

Sync between Apple Watch 9 and 11 is responsive.

I have noticed there are 30 instances of "iphone" and 2 of "xxx iPhone 14" under Health-Data Access & Devices-Sources but there is no option to delete redundant entries. IF entries show anything when selected it is typically "no data".

Battery life has drastically reduced and back of phone is noticable hotter since updates though probably due in part by hours spent attempting to solve these issues.

The Apple Watch pairing status can directly influence what shows up under Health → Data Access & Devices → Sources:

  • Watch pairing behavior

Since an Apple Watch can only pair with one iPhone at a time, if your Watch Series 9 wasn’t paired properly or was switched between devices, HealthKit may create multiple “iPhone” source entries. The watch’s data won’t sync across all iPhones — only the one it’s actively paired with.

  • Impact on sources

Each time the watch is paired, unpaired, or re‑paired, iOS may log a new “iPhone” source entry. If the pairing wasn’t clean, you’ll see “ghost” entries with “No Data,” because the watch never actually transferred health metrics to that source.

  • ✅ What to check
    • On your iPhone, go to Watch app → General → About to confirm the watch is paired with the intended device.
    • If pairing looks inconsistent, unpair and re‑pair the Watch with the correct iPhone. This forces HealthKit to establish a fresh, valid source.
    • After re‑pairing, only the active iPhone should continue to receive watch health data; the redundant “No Data” entries will remain but won’t affect functionality.

So, the clutter you’re seeing is partly from iOS’s conservative logging and partly from watch pairing events. The practical fix is to ensure the Watch 9 is paired cleanly with the iPhone you actually use for Health, and ignore the empty sources.

The app developer may not have updated their software to ensure compatibility with the iOS version your device is currently running.

If you encounter any challenges with third-party applications, the best course of action is to directly contact the app developer for further assistance. Here's a brief guide on how to do it:

  1. Identify the app developer.
  2. Visit their website or app store listing.
  3. Look for their contact information or support channels.
  4. Clearly describe the issue you are facing.
  5. Provide any necessary information they may need.
  6. Follow their instructions and provide feedback.
  7. Be patient and follow up if needed.

By reaching out to the app developer, you increase your chances of receiving accurate and personalized support for the challenges you're experiencing. To contact an App developer --> How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.

Not every issue an individual encounters on their device can be attributed to an iOS update. If the update itself were the root cause, then every device running that same version of iOS would exhibit the identical problem. In such a scenario, the forums would be flooded with countless posts reporting the same malfunction, creating an unmistakable wave of complaints that no one could possibly overlook. The absence of such widespread reports strongly indicates that the issue is not systemic, but rather specific to the device in question.

Thank you very much for your response, you have giving me much to work with. I will start with unpairing all devices other than new iPhone 17 Pro and my Apple Watch 11. I will then unpair Apple Watch 11, deselect backup Health to iCloud, delete Health on my iPhone 17 Pro then reinstall Health to force reload before re-pairing Apple Watch 11. Will also research Omron app to see if issues have been reported. Will advise of any progress. Thanks again!
