Seeing an unfamiliar ID on your Apple Music profile while dealing with strange "no internet connection" errors is highly alarming.
Because your account ID is actively switching to a stranger's name, you should treat this with immediate priority. This behavior typically points to one of two things: either your Apple Account has been compromised, or there is a severe data sync glitch on Apple's cloud servers (which can occasionally cause different users' profile data to cross wires when a connection drops).
To secure your account and fix the connection loop, take these steps immediately:
Step 1: Secure Your Apple Account Right Now
If someone else has gained access to your account, you need to lock them out before changing any music settings.
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your name at the very top of the screen.
- Tap Sign-In & Security -> Change Password. Update it to a strong, completely brand-new password that you do not use anywhere else.
- Go back to the main page under your name, scroll down, and look at the list of devices. If you see any iPhones, Macs, or PCs that you do not personally own, tap them and select Remove from Account.
Step 2: Force-Refresh Your Media Services Connection
The "no internet connection" error combined with the fluctuating profile data means your local device's login tokens are deeply corrupted. Forcing a fresh sign-in will wipe the stranger's profile cache off your screen.
- Go to Settings > [Your Name].
- Scroll down and tap Sign Out.
- Note: When prompted, choose to keep a copy of your data on your phone so you don't lose anything.
- Perform a Force Restart on your iPhone to clear its background RAM cache:
- Press and quickly release Volume Up.
- Press and quickly release Volume Down.
- Press and hold the Side/Power button until the Apple logo appears, then release.
- Once the phone boots back up, open Settings and sign back in with your correct Apple Account email and your brand-new password.
Step 3: Clear the Apple Music App Specifically
If you open Apple Music and it still looks glitched, you need to completely reset the app's local data framework:
- Open Settings > Apps > Music.
- Turn OFF the toggle for Sync Library.
- Close out of Settings, open the Apple Music app, and close it completely from your App Switcher (swipe up and off the screen).
- Go back to Settings > Apps > Music and turn Sync Library back ON.
When you re-open Apple Music over a stable Wi-Fi network, your phone will force Apple's servers to pull a fresh, untainted version of your exact music profile.
What to Do If the Stranger's ID Comes Back
If you complete a full clean sign-in and you still see someone else's ID, do not stream any music or enter any payment details. This means there is a server-side profile conflict on Apple's backend. You will need to contact Apple Support directly so a senior advisor can look into your iCloud container and manually un-link the phantom profile data from your account.
