Home Screen wallpaper desaturation bug still present in iOS 26.5

It appears that the “Home Screen wallpaper desaturation” bug, where a wallpaper appears normal on the Lock Screen but severely “washed out” on the Home Screen, still has not been fixed in iOS 26.5.

I do hope Apple can fix this in future updates. It really limits wallpaper options and, thus, layout options for me and it’s kind of silly this hasn’t been fixed yet as it seems like one of the more simple fixes.

All troubleshooting steps have been followed. Night mode / “Dim Wallpaper” is off, etc. The only thing that temporarily fixes this is rebooting the phone but if you or your Focus Mode change the wallpaper, it happens again.

Also, this does not seem to happen with Apple’s own wallpapers from within the system but it will happen with every downloaded image you try to use as a wallpaper. Orange is a very impacted/noticeable color, if someone wants to test this.

Just getting quite frustrated this hasn’t been fixed yet since it has been an issue from the moment I got the iPhone 17 and I haven’t had one day where this bug hasn’t been present. I have been patient but PLEASE fix this in June, Apple. I’m begging.

I am running an older IOS version, so unsure if you have the same options.

BUT one thing that just fixed it for me was swiping down the Notification Center, long pressing on on a spot, which gave me a selection of all my saved wallpaper options, and choosing a different one. Switching back to the one I wanted had the colors fixed.

Messing with the wallpaper in settings breaks it again.

I should have asked for a screen shot. You have transparency settings you can change. Go through this user tip I wrote and made adjustments to better meet your needs --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community

I have no clue what bug it is you are seeing, but I certainly don't have any issue with Wallpapers looking like they should on any of my devices. A bug would be something which affects everyone, but it certainly isn't or this forum would be blown up with people complaining, but it's not. The Tech Press would be reporting this, but they're not.

I am aware of what a bug is, thanks.

Posts exist on Reddit from about the last six months mentioning this issue:

As for “Tech Press,” I’m pretty sure it was ZolloTech who has pointed this out a few times in his discussions of iOS updates a couple months ago. There’s also this: https://www.macobserver.com/news/iphone-wallpaper-shows-different-colors-on-lock-screen-and-home-screen/

Thank you for the link to reach Apple. I will submit there, as well.

Have a nice day!

You mean the same Reddit where people claim the Earth is Flat? --> https://www.reddit.com/search/?q=the+earth+is+flat&cId=df21f37d-e2f9-4b9a-b90b-f9fe9d4ebc7d&iId=ea397150-b37c-4715-8354-b54df23d9b24 Reddit is kind of joke. I don't take anything there seriously. If there's an issue with iOS or iPhone, this is the most reliable and visited forum in the world for all things iPhone. And we're certainly not seeing many, if any users posting about this here. But you're welcome for the link, which you should definitely send feedback to Apple.

So, I tried the “Increase Contrast,” “Reduce Bright Effects,” and “Reduce Transparency” settings. Also tried “Liquid Glass > Tinted.”

All of these altered the display of the Liquid Glass interface but did not change the appearance of the wallpaper between the Lock Screen and Home Screen (i.e. the lack of saturation on the Home Screen image remains present as seen in the screenshots after changing those).

For those who think that the people who speak up about the ios wallpaper issue where it under saturates or in my case, over saturates the wallpaper, we are definitely not hallucinating, how dare you put us into the category of flat eathers! And ive got evidence, i would send a screen recording but im just gonna put a screenshot. First of all, how dare yall say this is equivalent to a dust of an issue, barely a few people talk about this because the homescreen wallpaper is usually the

Rude much? I never called anyone a flat earther (or as you wrote eather), but merely suggested Reddit as a source isn't the most reliable source and used flat earth as an example.

And the Author posted their lock screen and home screen as proof of whatever "desaturation" they seem to be seeing, only the two to my eyes at least are identical as it pertains to the wallpaper. But the clock and widgets are adjustable, per the linked user tip I provided on the Lock Screen.

If you feel there is an issue with the wallpaper between your lock screen and wallpaper, instead of trying to pick a fight with only another user on this user to user only forum, you are welcome to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and show what you think is amiss, to Apple in person --> Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
