Adobe has never been known to write efficient software, so you may require a more recent and commensurately more capable Mac to run their latest versions. That will always be the case.

64 GB RAM is an abundant amount of memory, and that Mac is using only a small percentage of it, so whatever is causing that Mac to run poorly it's not that.

macOS Tahoe 26.1 (25B78)

Update macOS. To learn how to do that please read Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support. It may help, or it may not, but that version is outdated by several months.

I understand you cannot afford a new Mac right now, but can you afford to lose three weeks of work?

Lagging Mac Due to Adobe:

Have you restarted your Mac since installing this? Go into Activity Monitor, and see if Adobe is using up a large percentage of RAM. RAM (AKA “memory”) is created for multitasking; so, the more percentage that is used, then slower you computer will become, The same goes for your storage space remaining. I keep my Mac 40% full at Max. Elsewise, caches cannot be created, and the Mac with stall, eventually leading to a failed device. a major consumer of your CPU is mdworker_shared. This could imply you are doing the computation and disk scanning to do yet another local backup.

But at 100 percent of a CPU, it could also indicate that you have un-repaired disk directory damage.

After you have completed a backup to disk, I recommend you run Disk Utility RepairDisk/FirstAid. If it gives you the slightest bit of trouble, Restart in Safe Mode to do a slightly deeper automatic Repair before MacOS is fully loaded.

Also, DropBox is a very large consumer of your Resources, according to your report. If you have accidentally started to edit a file that ONLY exists on DropBox and not locally, your computer will be crazy-slow.

I have never seen BackgroundShortcutRunner eating so much CPU power. It may be that you are running a shortcut with a loop or similar major problem in it.

interesting. I can't find much usable info on the mdworker_shared issue.

I ran the disk utility twice (once in safe mode to be... well, safe.

I removed dropbox from the open at login list, though it likes to put itself back there... i'll try to keep an eye on it.

I also can't find good info on the BackgroundShortcutRunner issue, but it seems to be common.

I ran an updated etrecheck attached here , if that will show progress on any of these issues.

thanks
