Strange 'T' appears during text animation in Keynote

In key notes I placed a text "T" and animated it with wipe on click to appear, but this strange 'T' as you can see below appears. Regardless the animation type it still appears like that.

It may be an old font. Fonts are supposed to be drawn from instructions, but some were just pictures made from pixels. You may want to try replacing the Ts with a different font. You may be able to select them all at once in the Object List and batch change to a more cooperative font.

I haven't seen this. It looks like a display memory artifact. Have you saved and restarted Keynote? Have you tried restarting the Mac?

You can also try re-starting in Safe Mode. This bypasses certain potentially disruptive processes, and it often helps. Safe Mode is different for different computers, so see this:

So it's likely that it's Keynote, not a system glitch.

Do you know what font this is? I know that I have gotten a warning with I open an old Keynote file that certain fonts aren't available, so it tries to substitute. You can look at the Menu Format>Aa Font, or in the Inspector Format pane:

What happens if you change the font?

Okay, I had to reduce the pictuer to get the T to be free from the image. That resulted in every second T looking as a T should look like. (This sort of covered the image stretching as well.)

I increased the font size from 20 to 25 and amazingly I just got Ts as one would have expected from any size font.

Thanks for your assistance and trouble shooting. So, increasing the font size is the solution to the unreadble lettering.

Yes, the Ts are on the top layer
The text box has a transparent background.

And does the T text look normal when it's moved off of the questions page? This could be a kind of moiré pattern from different pixel resolutions. What happens if you stretch the page image? Or use larger Ts?

So, you're sure the font is available, right. And you've tried different fonts for the T, and they all look funny?

  • Are these "T"s actually part of the page of questions, or are they separate objects?
  • Is anything here transparent?
  • What happens if you change the order on the Object List? (View>Show Object List) Are the "T"s on top?

I'm beginning to run out of ideas. I'm using Keynote 13.2-- I didn't realize that it didn't automatically update! Now I'm a bit nervous about it…

That's correct I have tried fonts that are available, apple's own fonts.

The black text is actually an image, with the red Ts as a text box that is in front of the image.

I even tried different animations too.

If tried keynotes version 14.something, but it still have the issue and other issues too.

Yes, the Ts are on the top layer

Yes, one should not break what is working. The new version is a bit disappointing in that it has some blot wear where apple is marketing their AI DRIVEN tools.
