iMac Radeon Pro 5700 XT low Metal benchmark score

help!

My 2020 iMac with Radeon Pro 5700 XT scored unusually low in the Geekbench Metal benchmark. One of the workloads failed and was assigned a score of 0, but the OpenCL benchmark completed normally with a normal score.

I suspect this may be a compatibility issue between macOS Tahoe, Geekbench 6 Metal benchmark, and the AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT, because OpenCL completes normally and Apple Diagnostics reports ADP000.

An Apple Diagnostics score of ADP000 means no hardware faults were found. A failing Geekbench 6 Metal workload resulting in a 0 score alongside a normal OpenCL run points to a software-level Metal compiler or driver micro-glitch rather than broken silicon.

Try this

Safe Boot Test: Boot your iMac into Safe Mode to clear dynamic system caches and force standard native graphics drivers, then test Metal performance again.

Reset NVRAM / SMC: Shut down your machine completely, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on. For an Intel 2020 iMac, resetting the SMC and NVRAM helps clear low-level persistent display and PCIe configuration registers.

Reinstall or Update Geekbench: Ensure you are running the absolute latest minor version of Geekbench 6, as early point releases occasionally mishandled specific AMD Navi instruction sets on newer macOS builds.
