Why are FaceTime and calls not restricted to “contacts only” for minor child's devices when "communication limits" are active?
FaceTime and calls not restricting to “contacts only” setting for child's devices when "communication limits" are active?
I have Screen Time enabled on my child’s iPad under their own Apple ID via Family Sharing. Communication Limits are set to “Contacts Only,” and only a small, parent-approved contact list is saved on the device. Despite this, the iPhone (which does not have cellular service active, received a FaceTime call from an unknown number. The minor also received a call on their apple watch from an unknown number via cellular data — both numbers are not saved in the contacts list and have no prior communication history.
I believe this contradicts the intended purpose (and our families understanding) of “Contacts Only” limits under Screen Time and creates unnecessary security and privacy concerns. FaceTime calls from unknown contacts should be blocked completely — not just silenced or briefly displayed — when Communication Limits are engaged.
Is there a fix for this?
