iPad Air 2 setup: 'Failed to retrieve configuration' error

Hello,

My brother just recently gifted me his apple Ipad Air 2. He cleaned it out and gave it to me blank. But when trying to set it up, I end up with an error message stating : Failed to retrieve configuration.

I followed instructions about using my MAC computers itune app. and it does connected and acts like its updating software and such, but when all that is completed, I end up with same error message and cant seem to get past it.
