That honestly sounds more like an Apple Music sync/library bug on iOS 26.5.

The fact that older songs save normally but newer songs disappear is the weird part. Usually that points to a cloud library syncing/indexing issue.

A few things to try:

  • Go to Settings → Music and toggle Sync Library off, restart the phone, then turn it back on
  • Make sure the songs are actually added to your library before adding them to playlists
  • Try adding the same songs from another device or from desktop Apple Music and see if they stick
  • Check if the songs disappear only on your phone or everywhere
  • Sign out of Media & Purchases, restart, then sign back in

Also:

  • Some newly released songs get weird regional/licensing sync delays for a while after release
  • If the playlist updates instantly disappear with no “Added to Playlist” confirmation banner, that’s usually sync failing in the background

Since it started recently and only affects newer tracks, I’d lean toward a server-side/cloud library issue rather than corrupted local data.

thank you for the reply couple things though, i have turned off sync library then restarted the phone multipul times now actually because i work nightshift and music is all i have all night so the "old music" is getting old frl especially knowing im 3 months behind on most of my favorite artists music because everybody's dropping right now. regardless ive done that and ive tested your second device theory. all of my playlists actually have my ipad as a collaborator specifically so i can add songs from there if im ever on it and i can confirm my ipad adds songs just fine still and then it will show on my phone but the same song from the phone won't work. i was also thinking the same with the licensing stuff because i have experienced weird issues from listening to brand new released songs but it seems to be every new song for real like the moment you see it was made in 2026 just count ur self out lol i didn't think my data was corrupted i just want to fix it i i've been in music prison for a couple weeks now still have the option to listen to new music but i listen to my playlists i dont listen to just straight albums from the same person so it beats the purpose.
