if this is the Terminal.app— it will never show the password on the command line...

type it in anyway.

ex. sudo note: password will not echo—

When prompted, type your administrator password and press Return. Terminal doesn't show any characters as you type.

type it in anyway use the enter\return key to proceed

Only administrator users can use sudo.

What happens when you try?

Reboot the computer.
