Mac Studio auto-powers on after macOS 15.7.7 update

I am using a Mac Studio M3 Ultra, currently on macOS 15.7.7.

Before updating to this version, when I unplugged the power cable from the Mac Studio, moved it, and then plugged it back in, the Mac Studio would not automatically power on until I pressed the power button.

However, after updating to macOS 15.7.7, the Mac Studio turns on immediately as soon as the power cable is connected and power is supplied.

I understand that macOS Tahoe has an option to enable or disable this behavior, but in macOS 15.7.7, there does not seem to be any command line option or setting available to control this. It appears that this behavior may have been changed at the firmware level, leaving users unable to configure it.

This is a concern because unexpected power input or automatic startup could potentially cause system issues or hardware damage.

Please provide a way to enable or disable this behavior, or release an OS level update that allows users to control it.

All features related to automatically turning the Mac back on after an improper shutdown or power failure are already disabled.

This has become so inconvenient that it is driving me crazy. Why would you change this kind of behavior through an update without giving users any prior notice or a proper way to control it?

This is the setting: Turn on a Mac mini, Mac Studio, or iMac without pressing its power button - Apple Support

If macOS 15.7.7 (erroneously?) got that new feature but (erroneously?) didn’t get the UI control, maybe it did get the pmset update.

The command-line version to look for (and try) is:

sudo /usr/bin/pmset autorestartatconnect 1

I don’t have macOS 15.7.7 to check.

Usage: pmset <options>

See pmset(1) for details: 'man pmset'

didn't worked.

I use my Mac Studio a lot while moving between locations, and it is driving me crazy that it turns on as soon as I plug in the power cable.

Why does Apple force something like this into an update without properly testing it? This change was not even mentioned in the release notes.
